Michael Stein
My son Michael was ready to quit dance the summer of 2005 due to the destructive atmosphere at another dance studio. My wife and I brought Michael to Synergy as it had a great reputation and was known for its strong dancers. Kari challenged Michael to push himself to his physical limits and beyond, and drove him to search deep and discover his passion for expressing himself through Dance. Throughout his four years at Synergy, Kari provided encouragement and sought perfection from Michael, and each year his strength and passion grew. Michael was paired with Sydney as a partner and became a formidable duet throughout Colorado and elsewhere. Kari’s sensitivity and creativity in choreographing the duets brought audiences to tears on many occasions. Michael and Kari collaborated together on his solo’s with the goal of performance versus medals, perfection versus just getting through it, putting everything into each dance and sharing it with the audience. Kari and Michael spent many hours rehearsing, always working to make each dance the best it could be so that at the end of each performance, Michael was totally exhausted but fulfilled. Kari’s reputation as a task master is well deserved, and her results, at least with my son, helped Michael as he toured with the Adam Parson’s Commonality Dance Company in Germany and Switzerland, danced in New Zealand, and provided him with the confidence and tools to achieve his goal of obtaining a year-long scholarship at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles in 2009-2010. After he completed his scholarship, he was sought after by the four major talent agencies in Hollywood and signed with MSA. He is now working in Los Angeles as a professional dancer, living his passion and dream. Bottom line, Kari re-ignited Michael’s love of dance, educated him to listen to his body and know how to get the most out of each movement, encouraged him to push himself outside of his comfort zone, and inspired him to always perform at 100% during class, rehearsals and performances. Kari’s unique talents and creativity make her and Synergy a place for serious dancers who want to be the best they can be and are willing to sweat blood to get there. I highly recommend Synergy as a studio for the serious dancer and Kari as a dance educator and choreographer.
