Trained in New York, Stacy Smith began teaching while still performing professionally with companies such as Baltimore Ballet, Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas, Ballet Internacional de Caracas, Ballet Florida and David Taylor Dance Theater. Upon moving to the mountains of Colorado, she founded and directed Cresson Dance, a nonprofit educational and performing opportunity for youth in Teller County. In order to enable her daughter to pursue her dreams of a professional career in dance, Stacy left Cresson Dance after 13 years and began teaching at Ballet Society of Colorado Springs, Arts Immersion, Revolution Dance Academy, Kemper Dance, Dana’s Dance and Colorado Springs Conservatory. She is qualified to teach all ages and levels of ballet, pointe, pas de deux, yoga and dance history. Stacy also has extensive experience in choreography, production, rehearsing, coaching and all aspects of community outreach programming. In addition to working with students of dance, Stacy has choreographed for the Butte Opera House in Cripple Creek and is a certified yoga instructor. She is bilingual (Spanish), has a husband, one daughter , 3 cats and loves to help things grow, both in her garden and in the dance studio.
