THE MISSION STATEMENT:

Synergy Dance Academy is a program that offers instruction in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, pointe, tap, tumbling, voice, acting and swing dancing.  We offer classes for all levels from beginners to elite dancers, ages 3 to adult.  The faculty of Synergy Dance Academy is committed to providing your dancer with the highest quality of dance training in a healthy and fun learning environment.  Our mission is to expose children and adults to the art of dance while building poise, self-confidence and encouraging the value of physical fitness.  Our program also has a competitive performance company for dancers that would like to take their training to the next level.  Synergy Dance Academy offers a diverse class schedule and an annual performance for students who dance for recreation.  Regardless of the level of commitment, all students here at Synergy are taught proper technique and shown a true love for dance and the arts.

STYLES OF DANCE:

Jazz is derived from ballet, and then given parallel movements put to a diverse selection  of appropriate music.  Shoulder, hip, and rib isolations provide more freedom in movement than classical forms of dance but proper technique, muscle development and discipline are still the foundation of jazz dance training.

Hip Hop is a street form of dance that is now being offered in dance studios.  Students learn to hear beats and move with confidence to these rhythms.  They learn basic pop and lock and ground rock break dancing and piece steps together for combinations (short dances).  All hip-hop music and dance styles used are age and level appropriate.

Ballet is a classical form of dance that includes training time at both the barre and center floor.  This form of dance is based on technique and muscle development while encouraging poise and discipline.

Tap dancers primarily use their feet to create sounds and rhythms that compliment the music.  Tap dancers focus on musicality and use their upper bodies to create the visual aspect of dance to compliment the audio performance of tap.

Pointe is an advanced technique of ballet that is performed on the toes in special shoes built for supporting the weight of a dancer.  This form of dance is for advanced dancers only and teachers will invite dancers to the pre-pointe class once they feel a dancer is ready for pointe work training.

Combo is a class geared for younger dancers and provides them with exposure to many different styles of dance.  Dancers try jazz, tap, and ballet in a combo class and develop basic skills in these areas of dance.  Dancers are taught the proper discipline for dance class and are given exercises that are valuable in their development as children.

Tots is a class for young children who are exposed to creativity and movement.  They work on basic dance skills and are given the opportunity to learn and play with music and movement.
